Hakone Shrine
In about 30 hours, 2020 is coming! In the New Year’s event, the most important thing is to visit the shrine temple, which is called “Hatsumode” in Japanese. This custom has been passed down since the Edo period. Besides praying for a smooth new year, thanks God bless the past year.
Hakone Shrine (箱根神社, Hakone Jinja) stands at the foot of Mount Hakone along the shores of Lake Ashi. The shrine buildings are hidden in the dense forest, but are well advertised by its huge torii gates, one standing prominently in the lake and two others over the main street of Moto-Hakone.
It is more convenience if you use the car or bus from Hotel Okada to Hakone Shrine.
■By the bus
Turn right when leaving Hotel Okada, after passing Hotel Nanpuso goup the hill, then you can see the bus stop「Okuyumoto-iriguchi (奥湯本入口)」. Please take the bus to「Hakone-jinja-iriguchi(箱根神社入口)」, it is about 30 minutes.
